Aroma 3-Cup Rice Cooker ARC-733G by Tom George
The Aroma ARC-733G 3 Cup Rice Cooker is an affordable, nice little rice cooker that does the job. I’m fond of the compactness and convenience of this little machine. On top of that it’s super simple to whip up a small batch of rice in a short time. But try as I might, I just can’t figure out a way to stop the rice from getting hard and brown on the bottom. I’ve tried to spray the pot with non-stick spray ahead of cooking with it it. I’ve also tried using more water than the instructions dictate. However, there is invariably at least a small quantity of rice sticking to to the base after the cooking is done. I have just determined that my regular steamer-rice cooker that I have used for years is a more useful rice cooker, even though it takes a longer time to get ready and clean up after than this cooker.
Some people who own the Aroma ARC-733G 3 CUP rice cooker assert that taking out the pan immediately after you finish cooking stops the scorching and sticking. This at least gives a partial solution to those who really wish for unburnt rice and already have this unit. But for me a warming function is an essential function for any rice cooker to have, because I’m often occupied with other things while cooking and can’t immediately attend to my rice.
A few additional notes about this little rice cooker:
- It isn’t dishwasher safe. You need to clean this rice cooker’s pot by hand.
- Always make sure the outer surface of the inner pot is not wet before use. If the removeable cooking pot is put into the rice cooker when it’sdamp, it might cause damage to this product, making it malfunction.
Also, interestingly, it is pretty much a throwaway appliance. It is really cheap, but if it stops working, you could return it to Aroma, but they make you pay for shipping costs. If that’s the case, you might as well just buy a new one at this price.
So by and large despite this being a low budget unit with no frills and the company won’t go out of their way to service it for you, for those on a tight budget this is a nice little simple cooker that will help you cook some pretty decent rice.
