Training your German Shepherd requires some special consideration, bearing in mind your dog’s breed.

Get your dog to the position where it is easily socialized. German Shepherds need to have the boundaries set out for them and know them clearly. Remember that you are dealing with a dog that is also stubborn and you need to provide positive reinforcement and not random ‘punishment’ or shouting for bad behaviour, which can have the opposite effect.
Ideally your German Shepherd training should start with puppies who are around eight weeks old by providing ample exercise as well as using rewards and playing with your dog so as to demonstrate the desired behaviour.
Good commands and good leash training is important if you want to properly train your dog on the leash.
Make sure you get a dog that obeys on the ‘sit’ command by giving rewards, not punishing.
German Shepherds of course are well known as guard dogs also and you should only embark on guard training after you have the basics, such as training your dog to ‘sit’, ‘stop’, ‘stay’ etc rather than
trying to move directly into more complex commands, such as guarding. Barking as a guard dog is fine but you must command your dog to bark appropriately rather than indiscriminately at anyone and everyone.
Stopping your dog biting is extremely important and requires some very clear behaviour on your part.
