Finding A Perfect Dining Room Set
Today I was on a quest for a black dining room set to put in my new dining room. I had painted, bought a Persian rug and I was not going home without a table and six chairs.
If Jeanne didn’t think the set was a good buy, I wouldn’t take it. Her decorating sense was excellent. I often helped her paint and set things in place. She, however was the one with a sense of style. I depended on that expertise today.
We looked at every dining room set in the first store. None seemed exactly what I wanted. There were only a few sets in black. The saleslady told us some of the light oak sets were also made in black wood. We considered all the possibilities.
We saw one with cushions on the chairs. I liked it but it was too hard to think how it would look in black. We left for another furniture store. They were having a great sale today. We went to the parking lot and drove over. We talked over my plans.
I asked her some questions about paint and chair cushions matching. I liked sheer panels rather than heavy drapes. My Persian rug would go well with almost any colors. I’d put it under the table. It was then I decided a round table was what I needed for the room.
We walked in and immediately a salesman came over. We are searching for a table and chairs in black, I told him. I think I’m leaning towards the round sets, but it has to be a black one I informed him. He smiled and we followed him to the right department. They had a good selection.
We asked his opinion about wood types, price as well as quality. I wanted to know what was on sale today. He agreed to take off a percentage of the price if I spent over a certain amount. That was fine since I didn’t want a cheap set. I found a magnificent one of the gorgeous round dining room sets and wanted it immediately. It had a round table and six substantial chairs.
The friendly salesman filled out the order and I signed. We all walked up to the front desk to pay. I got out my credit card. We agreed on a delivery date and I agreed to next Friday.
I turned to him and jokingly said I hoped I could still afford an electric rice cooker since I had dropped and broken mine. He smiled and handed me a card and asked if he could help with anything else. I said I would ask for him the next time I shopped there. We said goodbye and Jeanne and I walked out to the car.
