The Importance Of Good Hand Washing By Food Handlers
Over the years, we’ve seen and heard stories about food poisoning and diseases that point to one culprit – the food handler. Management carries the responsibility of educating their employees about food borne diseases and its prevention. Dirty hands can easily spread germs and this can be prevented by proper hand washing. Employees must practice effective hygiene technique to avoid the spread of bacteria and viruses to food at all cause. Here are a few things a manager can do to help prevent food borne illness:
- Managers can ensure that there is an adequate number of soap dispensers in strategic spots and that they are operational and kept filled.
- All employees must undergo requisite training in proper hand washing.
- Posters showing the importance of handwashing, as well as how to do it, should be placed in work areas and bathrooms.
- There should be regular trainings on the proper ways of hand washing.
