Simple Procedures To Clean Pashmina Shawls
In cleaning pashmina shawls, you need to follow these tips: clean the sink and put the drain, load the sink with lukewarm water and put gentle detergent or hair shampoo, wash the pashmina shawl slowly, wash with hair conditioner, gently pat and squeeze the shawl, rinse thoroughly until free from soap, allow it to dry, press the shawl using a cool iron when dry, and store.
Pashmina is the greatest type of cashmere wool there is, and it’s known for its spectacular texture and softness. It comes from Capra Hircus goats of the Himalayas, particularly from their underbelly. Many pashmina shawls are a combination of pashmina and silk. They are impressively smooth and comfortable to the skin. This timeless accessory fits casual and formal attire, and it is available in a wide variety of colours and styles. You’ll never run out of options with pashmina shawls. What’s more is that with proper handling and cleaning, your pashmina shawl will get even softer with every wash. Follow the tips listed below to wash your shawls properly:
Clean your kitchen sink and connect the drain
Thoroughly clean your sink before performing anything else. Do not forget to connect the drain. You may also utilize a small basin to wash your pashmina shawl.
Fill the basin or sink with lukewarm water and put mild detergent or shampoo
Put a capful of mild laundry detergent or baby shampoo after you fill your basin or sink with lukewarm water. You may use your hand to swirl the water. Make sure that the laundry detergent or baby shampoo is completely dissolved. Do not use soap in hand-washing pashmina shawls because this might damage the cloth fabric.
Wash the pashmina shawl gently
Take your shawl and immerse it in water. Using your hands, gently clean your shawl. Be very careful in doing so particularly in hand-washing pashmina add-ons including hand-tied tassels.
Rinse using hair conditioner
This phase is optional. If you would like your shawl to be softer, you may rinse it with a considerable amount of hair conditioner.
Gently pat and squeeze the shawl
Squeeze and pat the shawl gently to draw out the soapy water. Do not ever wring or twist your shawl. This can expand the fabric.
Rinse completely with water until free from soap
Unplug the drain and rinse off your shawl using water till the soap is totally eliminated.
Let it dry
Once the shawl is thoroughly washed of soap, lay it flat on a surface. Carefully stretch your shawl to regain its original shape. Do not ever expose it directly to any source of heat like sun rays.
Press your shawl with a cool flat iron when dry
Once the pashmina shawl is dried out, press it using a moderately or cool warm iron. You have to put a piece of paper or maybe cloth fabric in between the iron and the shawl. This is done so that the fabric will never be scorched.
Store
Before keeping the shawl inside the polythene bag, flip it and enclose it in tissue paper. Carelessly putting your pashmina anywhere will expose it to moths, dust, sunlight, and moisture. You wouldn’t want your shawl to be destroyed.
Beware when using your shawl next to rough materials like metal-studded garments and jewellery since they may snag the cloth fabric and ruin it. Furthermore, don’t dry clean, brush or bleach your pashmina shawl. Following these guidelines will lengthen the life of your shawl and keep it in good shape.
