Décor and Door Protection: How to Revamp Your Office
The presentation of a company’s office tells clients and rivals a lot about the business. An air of sophistication is important in the way you present your office. Thus, your choice of furniture and decoration is actually very important. Including everything from décor to door protection, here are my top tips for revamping your office.
{The Welcome}
Guests arriving at the office will pass judgement based on what they see. Your reception area should be welcoming, light and bright. There should be an obvious waiting area and it should be comfortable. Either chairs or sofas are okay, but be sure to find the balance between comfortable and professional. A reception area which looks like somebody’s living room is never a good look.
{The Décor}
Don’t go overboard. It’s better not to paint whole rooms or areas one bright colour. But equally, don’t be drab and boring. You can use corporate colours or well chosen bright colours, but perhaps only on feature walls or in artwork.
{The Props}
A few plants will freshen the air and add colour. A bit of greenery also does wonders for staff morale. Consider placing several plants around the office. But just remember only live plants look good, so have your watering can to hand. Remember, too, that there’s nothing wrong with showing off a little. If your company manufactures something which can feasibly be displayed in a cabinet in reception, then by all means display it. This personal touch shows visitors what your company is about. Other props to consider are water coolers, well organised shelving and file storage and industry specific magazines in reception for visitors to browse.
{Tidiness}

They are adults after all. Still, don’t be tempted to go to the other end of the spectrum and ban personal items on desks. Your personnel will spend most of their week sitting at their desk, so should be entitled to make it their own. Anyway, most visitors will actually appreciate being reminded that your staff are people and not robots.
{The Maintenance}
You should invest in the right protection for your office. Otherwise you will periodically be forced to reinvest money on repairing cracks and chips to paintwork. Protecting your hard work is just good sense, as not to would defeat the object of restyling your office in the first place. There’s a whole range of trims to protect walls and doors, and they’re a great investment. Most office managers don’t think about it until it’s too late, but delivery boxes, people traffic and tea trolleys scratch and scrape doors and walls everyday. This risk is eliminated using wall and door protection.
