The Charm A Victorian Kitchen Evokes
Many people mistake Victorian for an architectural style, however, the reality is that it is an important era in world history. An era which stayed from the mid-1800’s to the first quarter of the 1900’s, the high point of the Industrial Revolution. The most prominent of the Victorian kitchen equipment was the cooking range which can either be in open or closed types. The first ever stove was invented by Benjamin Thompson and it was called Rumford stove. This stove used a single fire for heating and cooking a number of pots dangling over the fire through several openings on top of the stove. In the meantime, the Obelin stove was launched in the US which used the same technique but adapted for domestic use. These stoves use coal and wood for fuel and it was not before the last part of the 19th century that gas was used. In the 1930’s, electrical stoves were sold commercially.
It was also during the Victorian era that silverware was a household piece, used for making kitchen implements. It is a normal background inside the Victorian kitchen to find a silver jug or jar, or an array of fine dining pieces. Dish wares made of clay and porcelain were likewise embellishments in the kitchen. In fact, they serve as a status symbol of the era. Stone wares with elaborate figures and the distinguishing style of blue-white combination are indicative of one’s societal position.
If you want to bring back the Victorian touch and atmosphere in your kitchen, the best strategy to that is to build a bespoke kitchen. That way, you can customize every detail of your kitchen. The flooring must be wooden though you can also use ceramic and marble tiles as an alternative. A painted kitchen that will indicate a Victorian appearance should be done in light shades or colors. Most color schemes being used in the Victorian homes are neutral hues, shades of purple and rose, and bold colors.

The masterpieces produced of that period continue to influence a lot of people.
