Google Adwords or Yahoo Sponsored Search – Where to advertise? by John M Arthur
When it comes to boosting up the earnings of an existing business or launching a new home based business, you definitely need to advertise your website/product. Website/Product owners employ every possible mean of advertising their websites. People want to advertise as much about their website as possible. Also, they want to achieve the task in least possible price. The question is to get “targeted traffic”. Program like Google Adwords and Yahoo Sponsored Search are designed for advertisers who want to get targeted traffic on their website or blog. You, as an advertiser, sign up on these networks and set your daily spending limit and cost per click. According to this information, Google and Yahoo place your advertisements at their publisher websites. When visitors of publisher’s websites click on your advertisement, they get redirected to your website or web page.
There are a number of things to consider before choosing your advertising partner. At first place, you should determine your budget that you will be spending daily, weekly, or monthly for your website advertisement. Google Adwords and Yahoo Sponsored Search are two best advertising networks currently available in the market. Marketing your website at these networks means sure profits or increased sales. But, if you get a little bit technical, you might confront some advantages as well as disadvantages of the two networks.
Currently, Yahoo is asking to have a minimum bid of $0.5 per click. If your bid is less than that, you ad won’t appear. On the other hand, Google Adwords does not put any caps on cost per click. You can set the bid per click as low as $0.1. Similarly, you can set your daily budget on both networks. Due to the universal acceptance and legacy of Google, it is a more popular search advertisement network. Yahoo publishers are comparatively lesser than Google Adsense. This is the reason why more advertisers choose Google Adwords for advertising.
Another advantage you can notice for Google Adwords is that they allow you to choose prepaid or post-paid method of advertising. This means that your credit card will not be automatically charged without your permission (if you choose the prepaid) method. On the other hand, Yahoo Sponsored Search automatically charges your credit card when your account balance is ‘low’. So, Yahoo is a little bit riskier in this case.
Besides this, different people prefer different advertising networks for advertising a product or website. You should do your own research and should experience multiple advertising networks. Ultimately, you should choose the one that costs you least and gives you most effective results. Best of luck!
